🎓 What You’ll Learn

  • How pleating works — an introduction to the craft, materials, and tools.

  • How to make a basic knife‑pleat pattern using card, suitable for home use on an ironing board.

  • How to pleat small pieces of fabric at home using your handmade pattern.

  • Choose one of our 300 patterns and we will help you pleat it yourself — bring a piece of fabric with you and we’ll guide you through the process.

  • Bonus: Basic chevron folding — if time allows, we’ll demonstrate how to fold a simple chevron card pattern.

🧰 What You’ll Do on the Day

  • Morning:

    • Welcome and introduction to pleating

    • Demonstration of knife pleating

    • Step‑by‑step creation of your own knife‑pleat card pattern

  • Afternoon:

    • Practise pleating small samples

    • Pleat your own fabric with our guidance

    • Optional chevron folding demonstration

    • Q&A and next steps for practising at home

🧵 What You Need to Bring

  • A small piece of fabric you’d like to pleat. Up to three metres(lightweight silks, polyesters, or blends work best)

  • Notebook and pen

  • Comfortable clothing suitable for a workshop environment

All card, tools, and sample fabrics are provided.
